Terms of Service

Last updated: June 2026

These terms cover your use of Test Your Device (the "site"), available at testyourdevice.com. By using the tools or reading the guides, you agree to what's set out below. If you don't agree, please don't use the site. We've kept this in plain language; there's no fine print designed to trip you up.

What the site is

Test Your Device provides free, browser-based tools that check whether your hardware works — your microphone, webcam, speakers, keyboard, mouse, controller, display and more — along with written guides that help you fix common problems. Every test runs locally in your browser. We don't sell anything, we don't require an account, and there's nothing to install.

The tools are diagnostic aids, not guarantees

The tools report what your browser can detect about your hardware at the moment you run them. That's genuinely useful, but it isn't a certified diagnosis. A microphone can pass our level test and still have a fault that only shows up under specific conditions; a screen test can miss a pixel that fails intermittently. Use the results as a strong indication, not as proof for a warranty claim or a purchase decision. We provide the site "as is" and make no warranty that a test result is complete or error-free.

Acceptable use

You're welcome to use the site for personal or commercial troubleshooting — checking a work laptop, testing gear before a stream, or diagnosing a customer's device is all fine. You agree not to attempt to disrupt the site, scrape it at a scale that degrades service for others, republish the guides wholesale as your own, or use the site in any way that breaks the law in your country. The tools must not be relied upon where a hardware fault could cause injury or significant loss — for that, use a qualified technician and proper equipment.

Your content stays yours — and stays with you

Because the tools run entirely in your browser, your audio, video, keystrokes and other input never reach us. We don't receive it, store it, or have any rights over it. There's nothing for you to license to us because nothing is uploaded. This is core to how the site is built, and our Privacy Policy explains it in detail.

Third-party services

The site uses Google Analytics to understand aggregate traffic and Google AdSense to display advertising, which keeps the tools free. These services set their own cookies and operate under their own terms. Ads link to third-party sites we don't control and aren't responsible for. Our Cookie Policy covers what these services store on your device.

Intellectual property

The site's design, code, original graphics and written guides are owned by Test Your Device and its author. You may link to any page freely and quote short excerpts with attribution. You may not copy the guides in bulk or reproduce the site's design to pass it off as your own.

Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, Test Your Device and its author are not liable for any loss arising from your use of the site — including decisions you make based on a test result, time spent following a guide, or any issue with a third-party ad or link. The site is free, and you use it at your own discretion.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the site evolves — for example, if we add a feature or change an advertising partner. When we do, we'll update the "last updated" date above. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the revised terms.
