PS5 DualSense Controller Test

Check every button, adaptive trigger and analog stick on your DualSense, and catch stick drift before it ruins your aim. Works over USB or Bluetooth on a PC or Mac.

No controller — press a button to connect
Left stick · 0.00, 0.00
Right stick · 0.00, 0.00

Leave the sticks untouched — if a value moves away from 0.00 on its own, that is stick drift.

How to connect a DualSense to test it

You do not need a PlayStation to test a DualSense — a browser on a PC or Mac reads it directly.

Adaptive triggers and haptics

The DualSense's headline features — adaptive trigger resistance and haptic feedback — are driven by games through the console or the DualSense driver, and the browser Gamepad API does not expose them. On this page the L2 and R2 triggers still report their full analog range (0 to 1) as you squeeze, which is what you want to confirm the triggers themselves are healthy. To feel adaptive resistance you need a supported PC game plus Sony's DualSense driver or Steam Input.

Recalibrating a DualSense

PlayStation does not expose a manual stick-calibration screen the way Xbox does. If you have drift:

  1. On the PS5, go to Settings → Accessories → Controllers → reset the controller using the small reset hole on the back (press it with a pin for a few seconds), then re-pair.
  2. Update the controller firmware via Settings → Accessories → Controller (General) → Device Software.
  3. Re-test here. If resting values are still high, the stick module is worn.

Sony warranty

DualSense controllers carry a standard 12-month manufacturer warranty. Sony has faced drift complaints and, in some regions, extended support or repairs for affected units — contact PlayStation Support with your purchase details before paying for a repair. Out of warranty, a Hall-effect replacement stick module is the most durable fix.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I test a PS5 controller without a PlayStation?

Yes. Connect the DualSense to a PC or Mac over USB-C or Bluetooth and press a button on this page. The browser reads all buttons, triggers and sticks directly.

How do I pair a DualSense over Bluetooth?

Hold the PS button and the Create button together until the light bar double-flashes, then select 'Wireless Controller' in your computer's Bluetooth settings.

Why can't I feel the adaptive triggers in the browser?

Adaptive trigger resistance and haptics are controlled by games through the console or a PC driver, and the Gamepad API does not expose them. The triggers' analog range still reports correctly here, which confirms the trigger hardware works.

How do I fix DualSense stick drift?

Update the controller firmware, reset it with the pinhole button on the back, then re-test. If drift persists the stick module is worn — replace it, ideally with a Hall-effect module, or contact Sony if you are in warranty.

Does the DualSense have a warranty against drift?

It has a standard 12-month warranty. Sony has offered repairs or support for drift in some regions, so contact PlayStation Support before paying out of pocket.

Which browser works best for a DualSense?

Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Opera all support the Gamepad API well. Safari's support is limited, so use a Chromium-based browser for reliable results.
