About Jayadeep
I'm a web developer who builds privacy-first browser tools. Test Your Device is my project to give people a fast, honest way to check whether their hardware actually works — with nothing to install and nothing ever uploaded.
What I work on
My focus is the modern browser platform — the APIs that let a web page safely talk to real hardware. That includes the Web Audio API and getUserMedia for microphone and webcam testing, the Gamepad API for controllers, Pointer and Keyboard events for input devices, and the Screen, Battery and WebGL interfaces for display and system diagnostics. Every tool on this site is built directly on these standards so it runs entirely on your own device.
Areas of expertise
- Browser APIs: Web Audio, WebRTC / getUserMedia, Gamepad, Pointer & Keyboard events
- Hardware diagnostics: microphones, cameras, displays, input devices and batteries
- Front-end development: dependency-free HTML, CSS and JavaScript
- Web performance and Core Web Vitals
- Privacy-by-design engineering — processing media locally, never on a server
Why I built Test Your Device
Before an interview, a stream, or a gaming session, most people just want to know their gear works — without downloading sketchy software or handing their camera feed to a stranger's server. I couldn't find a set of tools that was genuinely private, fast, and free, so I built one. Every test here processes your audio, video and keystrokes locally in the browser; nothing is recorded, uploaded, or sent anywhere.
The guides
Alongside the tools I write the troubleshooting guides — practical, step-by-step fixes for the problems these tools help diagnose, from a mic no one can hear on Zoom to a monitor stuck at 60Hz. Each guide is paired with the matching test so you can confirm the fix worked.
